    Fire door replacement

Replacing fire doors that cannot be brought back to a compliant condition, across Scotland's Central Belt.

Some doors are past repair. Years of impact damage, apertures cut on site, frames that were never part of a certified assembly, or doors that were simply never the right specification for the opening they sit in.

Replacement is the more expensive answer, so it should be the answer only when it is the right one. Where a door can be repaired, we will repair it.

    Doors we replace

    • Doors with apertures or vision panels cut after manufacture
    • Doors with structural impact damage to the leaf or edges
    • Doors whose certification cannot be established at all
    • Doors of the wrong performance for the compartmentation they sit in
    • Doors that have already been repaired repeatedly and continue to fail

    Getting the specification right

The replacement has to match what the compartmentation requires, not simply what came out of the opening. An existing door is evidence of what somebody once fitted, not evidence of what the building needs.

Scottish building standards describe the performance as a short, medium or long fire resistance duration. In trade terms those correspond to FD30, FD60 and FD120, and under the European classification to E 30 Sa, E 60 Sa and E 120 Sa. Where a building has been altered over the years, the required duration is not always what the previous door provided.

    What replacement involves

    1

    Survey

The opening measured, and the required performance established from the compartmentation rather than assumed from the old door.

    2

    Supply

A certified assembly ordered to match, including frame and ironmongery where the tested set requires it.

    3

    Fit

Installed in place, with the old door removed and disposed of.

    Common questions

Yes. Many replacement programmes run over months, worst doors first, as budget allows.
